Buffalo County now has a new diversion program available through the County Attorney’s Office. The Buffalo County Alcohol Accountability Program has been started for young adults ages 18-20 who have received a Minor in Possession or Minor in Possession/Consumption (MIP and MIP/C) citation. The goal is to involved them in meaningful ways throughout the community and connect them to positive opportunities that build on their strengths, develop their social skills and strengthen their relationships with the local community.
To date there have been approximately fifty referrals to the Alcohol Accountability program and forty initial intake assessments have been completed. These forty individuals are now working on their accountability requirements, which vary depending on the individual situations and citations.
This program is funded by the Positive Pressure Coalition SPF-SIG grant.
