Over 40 students attended the Nebraska Youth Academy for Democracy on October 27. Students came from Buffalo County, Grand Island, Lincoln, and beyond to get a crash course in advocacy, learn about and discuss issues important to them, and meet with state senators to voice their opinions and learn how they could get involved in the democratic process.
Buffalo County Community Partners would like to thank Dr. Diane Duffin from UNK, Senator Mike Gloor, Becky Gould from Nebraska Appleseed, Senator Galen Hadley, Sandy Yager from Tobacco Free Hall County, Senator John Wightman, and Jose Zapata from Central Nebraska Community Services, as well as Kearney Public Schools and Region 3 Behavioral Health Services for making this event a great experience for Nebraska Youth.
