Buffalo County Community Partners distributed 600 self-care kits to employees of assisted living homes across Buffalo County. Community Partners Suicide Prevention coalition assisted in developing resources for the kits and helping with distribution. The kits provided small self-care items like lip balm, hand lotion, or coffee gift cards along with resources with  tips and tools for better mental wellness.

Funding for the project came from the Nebraska State Suicide Prevention Mini Grant. The initial project started in December 2020, with grant funding from Department Health and Human Services CARES Act Funding. This money got the project started from an idea that came out of a work group helping isolated seniors. Community Partners staff members wrote grants to provide the opportunity to serve more long-term employees in Buffalo County. About 1200 self care kits have been distributed among long term care home employees.

This round of kits were distributed to Good Sam St. Luke’s, Mother Hull, Central Nebraska Vet’s Home, Good Samaritan Ravenna, Seneca Sunrise Ravenna, Kinship Pointe, Cambridge Court, Prairie View Gardens, Country House, Homestead, and Wel-Life.

Thank you to all who helped with this project.
