Kearney, Neb – Buffalo County Community Partners has hired a new Early Childhood Community Coordinator, Leslie Martin from Kearney. Martin will help support the Buffalo County Early Childhood Collaborative and work under the direction of the Buffalo County Community Partners Behavioral Health Coordinator. Their mission is for Buffalo County parents, child care providers, educators and other professionals to work collaboratively to provide opportunities for young children to learn, grow and develop in high quality, safe, and loving environments.
Martin has taught Art and Special Education for 20+ years and has worked as a Special Education Administrator for 5 years. “Education is so important to my family and me. Education starts at the birth of a baby and, the first developmental years of their lives are very important. I am looking forward to helping these small minds grow,” said Martin.
The new position was possible through the Preschool Development Grant awarded to the Buffalo County Early Childhood Collaborative from Nebraska Children’s and Families Foundation. The Preschool Development Grant offers Nebraska the opportunity to assess and improve its early childhood system at the state and local levels. This grant provides a framework to bring together the combined resources and expertise of state agencies, early childhood and K-12 educators, community leaders and nonprofits to improve the developmental outcomes of our state’s youngest children.
The vision of the Early Childhood Collaborative is that all children and families in Buffalo County will have access to affordable quality care and education, families, caregivers and child care providers will be supported, and children will have the resources to develop and grow to their fullest potential. “Leslie’s experience in education will be a great addition to our Early Childhood Collaborative,” said Tana Miller, Behavioral Health Coordinator at Buffalo County Community Partners.
